This was attended by nearly 260 Veterans. In fact we had a waiting list of fifteen people and if we could have accommodated more people, we are certain 300 would have attended. Frank Dutton was our popular President and his guest and speaker was Sir Alan Rudge, Chairman of W.S. Atkins plc, one of the UK’s largest Consulting Contractors.

Sir Robert Telford introduced the President, Peter Turrall our Vice-Chairman introduced Sir Alan and Valerie Cleare proposed the toast of Absent Veterans. Our Chairman Charlie Rand was in charge of the proceedings ably backed by Master of Ceremonies Arthur Spooner.

The whole Veterans Committee assisted with all the other activities most necessary in ensuring this Annual event goes off smoothly. This year we celebrated the Centenary of the famous 7777 patent taken out by our Founder Marchese Guglielmo Marconi and also the Centenary of the formation of The Marconi International Marine Company (MIMCo)

Following the Re-Union, the AGM of the Marconi Veterans Association took place. The main topic was of course the future of the Association, which has already been covered in preceding paragraphs. A new Committee Member was elected, Barry Powell, who is currently employed at New Street as a Pricing Officer in Marconi Mobile. Welcome aboard Barry.
